Ductwork Inspections

SJ Ventilation firmly believes that preventative practices such as Ductwork Inspections are being massively undervalued in the UK.

We feel it is crucial that these inspections are carried out by informed experts. They are too important to simply bolt on to existing service packages undertaken by third-party contractors, many of whom may not have the relevant experience to spot dangerous discrepancies.

In the USA it is already standard practice to split out Ductwork Inspections, and to give that assignment to specific experts and we believe that will soon become common practice in the UK.

SJ Ventilation often gets commissioned by various companies, asking us to come and assess Ductwork / Damper Installations. This could be for several things like:

  • The client not accepting the install due to Quality Control restrictions,

  • Not being able to commission the system due to bad quality installations,

  • General Snagging,

  • Making sure that everything is installed to current regulations. Specifically:

    • DW144 (Metal Ductwork Construction)

    • DW145 (Fire Damper Installation)

    • DW172 (Kitchen Ventilation Systems)

    • DW143 (Air Leakage Testing)

    • TR19 (Internal Cleanliness of Ventilation Systems)
